The Very Reverend Julius A. Collins, Jr., Pastor
Reverend Julius A. Collins, Jr. hails from Texas, where he was born in Santa Ana. This says so much about this man - from the warmth of his speech, the cowboy boots that are a natural on his feet and to the smoked beef brisket that he's famous for. Reverend is at home over a grill as he is on an executive board or behind a pulpit from which he delivers God's word.

This man of God has worn many hats over the years. In 1966, Reverend Collins became a member of the United States Army, where he served at home and abroad for twenty one years. Because of his propensity for leadership, Reverend Collins rose in rank to that of Master Seargant from which he retired.

Reverend Collins has been married to his wife, Vernice, for fifty years. They have three lovely daughters and many wonderful grandchildren. He and his wife have always participated in ways that are beneficial to their church and community: participating in and heading church ministries, neighborhood watches and committees, coaching, etc.

Approximately four years after receiving the call to preach, Reverend Collins became the pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Ellenvillle, New York in December of 1992. In addition to shepherding this flock, he is the moderator of the Central Hudson Baptist Association, Chairman of the Ellenville Regional Hospital Board, member of the Ellenville Central School District Board, President of the Wawarsing Clergy Association, a founder of the African American Men's Association, Inc. and serves where ever he can to contribute to the improvement of a civic and/or clerical organization.

It is truly fitting that Reverend Collins' favorite scripture (Romans 8:28) is:
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." To those of us who know Reverend Collins, we would say he is the "salt of the earth."
